Mesotherapy is used for the treatment of cellulite and stubborn fat pockets. It has been used in Europe for 40 years , and now is becoming increasingly popular in this country. The areas that we treat commonly are:
- Saddle bags
- Thighs
- Love handles and flank
- Stomach
- Sagging arms
- Knees
- Double chins
Mesotherapy can be used to specifically target
different body regions. This allows the reduction and
elimination of undesired fat pockets. Special formulas
are used to target specific receptors on fat cells. There
are two types of receptors: Alpha and Beta. The Alpha
receptors, when stimulated, produce fat. This is known
as lipogenesis. The Beta receptors, when stimulated,
breaks down fat. This is known as lipolysis. Thus, Mesotherapy activates the Beta receptors to dissolve
fat cells Mesotherapy is used to enhance the weight-loss effects
of diet and exercise. By using "fat burning" formulas,
Mesotherapy target specific receptors on fat cells.
Specifically, blocking the Alpha-receptors prohibits the
fat cells from storing more fat and stimulating the
Beta-receptors turns on lipolysis or fat breakdown.
When patients combine Mesotherapy with a
customized diet and exercise program the fat just
melts away. Best of all, the rejuvenate properties of
Mesotherapy help minimize the appearance of stretch
marks and redundant skin following weight loss.
Mesotherapy can target any area: arms, double chin,
love handles, saddlebags, buttocks, thighs and
abdomen. Using formulas based on individual
requirements, Dr. Nadia Chaudhry will select a formula
suited to your needs to act on fat and/or cellulite and
break it down. The Mesotherapy formulas nourish and
rejuvenate the skin, stimulating circulation and cellular
metabolism. This promotes production of collagen and
elastin. Renewal levels of collagen and elastin gives the
skin a tighter and younger appearance. Following
treatment patients describe their skin as looking
rested, radiant, glowing and firm. Mesotherapy is used
in Europe by women, often starting in their mid-20s, to
prevent the damage associated with the sun and the
aging process. In our practice, we complement this
with various light based therapies and the most
advanced skin care for optimal results.
Q&A
What does the Mesotherapy procedure involves?
Tiny injections are administered just below the surface
of the skin at the location of the problem area. It can
be used just about anywhere on the body, but is
mostly used to treat the abdomen, thighs, buttocks,
knees and ankles.
How many treatments are required before results are visible?
A treatment cycle could require as few as four and as
many as 10 treatments or more dependent on the size of the area being treated and the results desired. Are the Mesotherapy treatments painful?
The procedure has minimal discomfort, but if the
patient is sensitive to needles a mild painkiller, local
anesthetic or numbing cream can be used. The
discomfort level is often compared to that of waxing.
What benefit does Mesotherapy have over
surgical techniques such as Liposuction?
The primary advantage of Mesotherapy over
Liposuction is that it is non-invasive procedure and
therefore does not have a risk and downtime
associated with surgery. Liposuction permanently
removes the fat cells and is arguably a more
permanent solution; however, it is a frequent
problem with Liposuction to have visibly uneven
results which can be treated with Mesotherapy.
How long to the benefits of Mesotherapy last?
Patients who make a commitment to maintain a
healthy diet and lifestyle following treatment should
see the results last. Some patients require some
maintenance every six to 12 months.
How much does Mesotherapy cost?
In our practice the cost of each treatment is $350 per session, however packages can be purchased at an additional discount.
What are the side effects and risk of Mesotherapy?
Side effects included local swelling and bruising for 3 to 5 days. Massage accelerates the healing phase.
Can I go back to work after the Mesotherapy treatment?
We generally recommend a 24 to 48 hour period of
light activity; many patients wear a girdle and return
to work soon after. Normal activities can be resumed
within 3-5 days.
