Cellulite

Condition

We all know it and – and hate it; the curdled skin on the back of the thighs and buttocks. Overweight or slender, cellulite can affect anyone having little to do with lifestyle. In fact, over 80% of the adult female population suffers from cellulite commonly found on the thighs, buttocks and abdomen.

Cellulite occurs when the skin’s collagen and collective tissue lose their elasticity and the skin’s dermis is weakened and the “cottage cheese” appearance is caused by the restriction of fibrous strands pulling down the skin at their attachment points.

Q&A

What does the Mesotherapy procedure involves?

Any injection is administered just below the surface of the skin at the location of the problem area. It can be used just about anywhere on the body, but is mostly used to treat the abdomen thighs, buttocks, knees and ankles.

How many treatments are required before results are visible?

A treatment cycle could require as few as four and as many as 10 treatments or more dependent on the size of the area being treated and the results desired.

Are the Mesotherapy treatments painful?

The procedure has minimal discomfort, but if the patient is sensitive to needles a mild painkiller, local anesthetic or numbing cream can be used. The discomfort level is often compared to that of waxing.

What benefit does Mesotherapy have over surgical techniques such as Liposuction?

The primary advantage of Mesotherapy over Liposuction is that it is non-invasive procedure and therefore does not have a risk and downtime associated with surgery. Liposuction permanently removes the fat cells and is arguably a more permanent solution; however, liposuction makes cellulite worse. Mesotherapy is often used to correct this problem.

How long do the benefits of Mesotherapy last?

Patients who make a commitment to maintain a healthy diet and lifestyle following treatment should see the results last. Some patients require some maintenance every six to 12 months.

How much does Mesotherapy cost?

The cost of this treatment per session is $350 but packages can be purchased at an additional discounts.

What are the side effects and risk of Mesotherapy?

Side effects included local swelling and bruising for 3 to 5 days. Massage accelerates the healing phase.

Can I go back to work after the Mesotherapy treatment?

We generally recommend a 24 to 48 hour period of light activity; many patients wear a girdle and return to work soon after. Normal activities can be resumed within 3-5 days.
